Richardson Explains Move

Richardson Explains Move

Leam Richardson has said his decision to leave for Chesterfield is a 'good move' career wise, but he accepts Stanley fans will be disappointed.

Speaking to the BBC after the shock announcement, Leam explained.

'I think career minded people and people in football will realise that this is a very good move. Certain people will question it but I see the bigger picture because I'm only 33 and I have a lot to learn. Once the question got asked it quickly became apparent that this would be an exciting move. You can see (Chesterfield) is a club going in the right direction and it needs to get there quickly.'

As for his time at Accrington, he takes the time to say.

'I'll take some fantastic memories from Accrington and it'll live with me forever. If I dropped out of football tomorrow then it'd still be a big part of my life. I've met some fantastic people there that I consider as friends rather than colleagues. When you move on you quickly realise how close you are to certain people.'
