McCartan Joins On One Year Deal

Accrington Stanley have announced the signing of striker Shay McCartan on a 12 month deal.

He joins us as a free agent after being released by Burnley last season and the capture of the Northern Ireland U21 has put a smile on the face of James Beattie.

Speaking to the Official Site our manager said that he'd had nothing but good scouting reports on the youngster so he had been on our radar this summer, and he's delighted to have got him at the club.

'I know a lot of people at Burnley were surprised that he was let go, he was in and around the first team but then circumstances changed for him. He's a young player with massive potential and we're delighted to have him at the club.'

You'd imagine Beattie is a good judge of character when it comes to strikers and he adds.

'He's a young lad who is willing to listen and learn and I think he's got that little bit of something about him - a bit of fire in his eyes.'

The 19 year old has joined training at the club and he'll be in contention for our forthcoming pre season friendlies.
