Murphy - Everton Was A Great Education

Murphy - Everton Was A Great Education

Peter Murphy has admitted he'll never forget his goal against Everton, but he believes Stanley can learn absolutely tons from the game and improve themselves because of it.

Speaking to the Official Site following the 4-1 defeat, the 23 year old said.

'It was a great night for everyone and especially for me as Everton have been my team for as long as I can remember. I was made up to score but it was just great to play against these top players and seeing what it's all about.'

Murphy jokes that when the goal went in 'I thought that if I celebrated I daren't look at my dad so I just kept my head down!'.

As for what Accrington can take from it, he talks about the pace of Premiership players and they way they make speed effortless.

'We'll learn massively from that. We'll learn about defending, keeping our shape when we get the ball then keeping it. We had some great passages of play, we just have to believe in ourselves and have confidence.'

Murphy says that following the experience of Everton, it'll be good for the squad to face Tranmere and see if they can put in some fixes they learnt.
