'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Missed Chances Cost Us

James Beattie can be relatively pleased with our performance against Rochdale today, but unfortunately our inability to be clinical enough has cost us at least a share of the points today.

We went down two one to Rochdale as they scored two early goals in the first half before on loan striker Kayode Odejayi grabbed what turned out to be a consolation goal after 24 minutes.

Speaking to the press following the match, Beattie frustration lay with us not taking our chances, as he believes we had the opportunities to not only draw level but potentially take all three points - especially as Rochdale were reduced to ten men but we just couldn't make the advantage count.

'If we take our chances, it's a different result. I didn't see the sending off, but we should have used the advantage but we weren't able to.'

Beattie says the goals Rochdale scored were sloppy from our point of view, and it's one of those unfortunate situations where we've given ourselves a mountain to climb before we've even completed the opening 15 minutes.

The positives from the game will be the improved performance levels, but clearly there are still things to be worked at and improved upon on the training ground, but as long as we keep creating chances eventually we should get a break and when it comes hopefully the boost in confidence will be enough to see us go on a run of results to lift us off the bottom of the table.

Facts are though it's eight games without a victory now in the league, and we need to change that statistic quickly. Thankfully despite our results, we aren't adrift and two or three wins would really change how our fortunes looked in the league table.
