James Beattie has given an interview where he says he's relishing the challenge that he faces at the club, and he certainly won't consider walking away from the job.
In quotes carried by the Lancashire Telegraph ahead of the game against AFC Wimbledon tomorrow, the gaffer admits that clearly Accrington are in a bad position, and after our worries last season, how we have started this campaign is not what anybody would've wanted but it is what it is, and he's relishing the challenge ahead and everybody is working towards turning our form around and getting the boards on the board that we need.
'It's a challenge and I love challenges. There's no way I'll give up, ever. I believe in what we're doing, the lads believe in what they're doing and it's something you can't give up on.'
Beattie goes on to say that fans can see from the career he's had that he doesn't shirk responsibility and shy away from the pressure when it's on and he has no chance of starting now that he's in the manager's chair. He wanted this responsibility and he's damned sure he's going to make a success of it, even if it doesn't come over night.
The gaffer does have the backing of our chairman Peter Marsden and he adds that the only pressure he is under, is the pressure to get things right on the training ground, get his own decisions right, and ultimately get things right on a match day.
Life at the club otherwise is fine and he knows he has the support of everybody and he intends to repay that faith over time with the results everybody craves.
He also repeated his belief that he feels we just need to go ahead in a game, as it's not so much confidence that the players lack, it's a belief, and if we can get ourselves one nil up that relief of changing our immediate fortunes around, he feels will see us strive on, play with discipline but a certain abandonment and he thinks we will then go on to win reasonably comfortably and the flood gates will somewhat open.
'If we take the lead in the game, I believe we will win. Simple as that.'
The frustrating thing is that Stanley haven't really been hammered in any games so far, they have been games of tight margins where the opposition takes their chance to be a goal up on us, and we just haven't been able to take our chance to end the game one goal up on them, so despite the league position and form table, there is every confidence this can change and he has every belief that it most certainly will.
