'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Odejayi Hoping For Swift Return

On loan striker Kayode Odejayi spell with Accrington Stanley came to an end late last week, and having enjoyed his time with us the player has said he's hoping for a quick return to the club.

The 31 year old's loan from Rotherham ended on Saturday and we unfortunately cannot extend that loan now past the 93 day maximum for an emergency loan spell and Odejayi admitted to the Official Site that following our loss to Tranmere, it was very unfortunate for him that he wasn't able to sneak that extra game in last weekend before his spell expired.

'I've thoroughly enjoyed myself for the last three months, really got to know the lads and the staff and I feel very much at home here. If it's at all possible I'd obviously like to come back and continue that in January. You never know in football do you? I just have to see what happens.'

Since joining us back in September, Odejayi has gone to make 10 starting appearances with one solitary bow from the bench and has scored four goals for us in that time.

He admits himself that his scoring return to games played couldn't realistically have gone much better for him, although granted he does say he'd have liked to have seen a return of a few extra points over that period, but he certainly can't argue with our turnaround of form of late especially and he's been proud to play his part in it, even though his spell unfortunately came following the end of that run.

'I've been here and having been part of that revival I want to keep doing that and continue to be a part of it and see where this group of players can go.'

On his leaving note though, whether he returns or not, he adds that he doesn't fear for Accrington in maybe the way he did when he first arrived because he has full trust in the gaffer and the group of players here to get the club on another good run of results and pull ourselves even further away from the bottom of the table over the coming weeks and games.

Even joking that during his suspension, we went on a good run, so the strength in depth is definitely here and with confidence high there is no reason why we can't continue to improve further.

And if we do that, and he does get his wish to return in January, he knows himself to expect to return on the bench and he'd be happy with that if it meant we'd won the previous four matches.
