Slow Start Annoys Beattie

Manager James Beattie has said our slow start to the game killed us, and when we finally started getting back into the Fleetwood game we had left it too late and given ourselves too much to do.

Fleetwood definitely had the lions share of the game, and went into a two nil lead, before returning loanee Odejayi pulled one back, but unfortunately instead of getting the leveller we then conceded the third and it was game over.

Speaking to the press following the game Beattie admitted his disappointment that we again gave them a head start in the match and it's something we simply need to stop doing because we are making life hard for ourselves for no good reason, and although we had a good early chance that he felt we were desperately unlucky with he can't really find fault in them being two up inside the opening hour.

'We keep giving teams a start, and we gave them two goals. That's the way the game went. The conditions were horrendous, I can't make an excuse because it's the same for both sides, they've just handled it better.'

There were really two positives that Beattie could take from the game, obviously the return of Odejayi resulted in a goal and the substitutions he made in the second half had an impact and really helped us step up our performances, but sadly it was too little too late really for us to have got anything from the game.

We remain outside the drop zone but with a run of three without a win now, we really need to find that second gear again and carrying on kicking up the table so we don't get overly sucked back into the battle at the bottom which unfortunately our draws of late have left us now with only a three point gap over Torquay.
