Buxton Extends Accrington Loan Spell
21 year old Adam Buxton has now extended his loan spell with Accrington Stanley until the end of the current season.
Manager James Beattie has been impressed with the young full back since he joined us from Wigan Athletic on an initial 28 day emergency loan last month, and since joining us he has gone on to make eight appearances since then.
Speaking to the Official Site as the deal was struck, Buxton said that he'd loved his time at the club so far and was delighted to be able to extend the spell for longer.
'I've massively enjoyed my time. I've had a great month and we've had some great results and I'm just made up now that I've extended the deal until the end of the season and hopefully I can get more games under my belt and help the team kick on up the league.'
Buxton goes on to say that having already turned out eight times for us so far, it really couldn't have gone any better for him as when he joined us he certainly didn't expect to be involved in every game during his initial spell with us.
'We've had a great month and got off to a flyer beating Chesterfield. It was disappointing not to get the win in the last game but we've had some great results and hopefully we can get more between now and the end of the season.'
Obviously for the youngster he admits life amongst a first team is a completely different world to U21 football, even down to the competitive edge of competition for places is more real and sharper for him and he's had to get used to that, mainly because reserve football is about fitness and developing, first team football is about points and winning.
The gaffer added.
'It's great news. I think he's done extremely well since he came in. He stepped in there and has acquitted himself really well.'
