Accrington 0-1 Burnley

Accrington 0-1 Burnley

It was another good showing from Accrington Stanley as we faced off against Premier League side Burnley yesterday.

Following on from the Blackburn Rovers showing, it was another good performance and run out from the lads, and we only narrowly lost the game as Burnley gave themselves the advantage inside of the final 20 minutes.

Manager James Beattie selected a strong side again for the game, relying on those who ended last season well but he did give a chance to trialist Iain Turner, formerly of Everton and Preston.

Stanley started brightly and had a few chances ourselves, but Burnley did have a goal disallowed in the first half for offside, and chances were falling for both teams in a pretty open contest.

With Burnley making ten changes at the break, Beattie held off for a bit giving a good run out to the starting eleven as they push their fitness on further.

Burnley did have another goal disallowed again for offside shortly after the restart, and around the 70 minute mark Beattie introduced his changes, and unfortunately Burnley then put the ball in the back of the net three minutes later and this time the linesman didn't help us out.
