Naismith opened the scoring for us after only 20 minutes when he smartly dispatched a free kick and both before and after this, Stanley did have opportunities to have added to the score line with Altrincham only really troubling our trialist keeper after the half hour mark.

The second period was a little bit different and they came at us more in the search for an equaliser and eventually that did come.

Beattie made two changes at the break, bringing on Brett Ormerod, Liam Goulding and Josh Windass and the youngsters were introduced following their equaliser.

Subs used:

Liddle, Jenkins, Hickey, Hartley.

Sub not used:

Parton, Densmore, Griffin, Cavanagh, Marshall, Williams, Richman, Moult, Perry, Williams, Crowther.

Havern, Leather, Wilkinson, Reeves, Coburn, Gillespie, Brown, King.

Att: 261.

Speaking following the game, Beattie said.

'It was a great workout for the boys. Altrincham are a good side who came up into the Conference Premier last year and it's a great playing surface here. In the first half I felt it was a good performance, we posed a threat and looked solid at the back. We created chances and were patient and we scored a good goal. Kal started the game really well and so did the team.'

The gaffer goes on to say that he was also pleased to see players come through another game without any knocks, niggles or stretches on the fitness and injury fronts as with a small squad he knows that's key to our chances this season and losing people early would just make our task more difficult.

As for the second half he also adds that he felt it was a poor goal for us to have conceded and we lost our patience which meant we gave the ball away too often and too easily but he can't fault the work rate of the players again and what they are giving him. The finer details can be worked on, the basics remain there and remain positive for him.
