A Liverpool Youth trainee, Cavanagh but for a maor injury early in his career could have been playing at a much higher level than League 2. Peter Cavanagh was Stanley's youngest ever Captain. As well as Conference winning medal is honours include England semi-pro caps.
Was released by the club and was banned from all football activities for eight months for illegal match betting, when he bet money on his own Accrington Stanley side losing to Bury. A game in which Cavanagh gave away a penalty in a 2-0 defeat at the Crown Ground.
Signed a contract until the end of the season with Blue Square North side Fleetwood Town at the beginning of April when his ban came to an end.
