'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We have been average

GAFFER John Coleman believes that a win for Accrington Stanley last Saturday against Oxford United would have amounted to a fantastic start to the season.

But after the Reds notched up a third goalless League Two draw of the season, Coleman was left wondering 'what if'.

Stanley are still unbeaten in the league this season, with the single defeat so far coming in the shape of a Carling Cup defeat to Premier League side Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.

'If we'd won today it would've been a fantastic start,' said Coleman speaking to the official accringtonstanley.co.uk website after the full time whistle at the Kassam Stadium.

'I'd say it's an average start.'

'Given the chances that they had in the second half a draw was possibly a fair result,' admitted the boss. 'We dominated the first half, dominated possession and we were just wasteful in the final third.

'I think if the referee had been brave enough to make a couple of decisons we might have won the game.'

The Reds currently lie seventh in the npower League Two table.
